Another long day of riding and a new record for me at 184km! Getting ready for the longer days ahead.. I joined a peloton early on in the ride with Terry, Peter the Poet, Martin and Kim, and it pulled us through the day. We stopped in the morning at a hotel for some tea, very civilized with comfy couches and European t.v. The afternoon flew by thanks to smooth roads and chatting with the guys, and a stop at a supermarket with 40km to go fueled us up with fresh baked goods and cold Cokes.
At camp we rented a bungalow and enjoyed the cold shower (with lots of spiders!) and the comfy purple couches, which were the perfect setting for our nightly wine club ‘meeting’. Later Carrie joined me for star gazing, as the African sky at night is so amazing and something I will miss a lot when I leave. We looked at the Southern Cross, found Gemini (our sign!) and my old friend Orion, who is a constant companion on our travels.
