I hit another milestone in my riding today with my first century (100 miles)! I was a bit nervous about the long ride, but I found myself finishing the day with energy to spare, even with all the hills and headwind. Early in the day I joined a pelaton of some of the older guys, and it felt great to get in some fast kilometers early on. About 50km into the ride, however, I realized I probably couldn’t keep it up for the whole 177km ride so Bob and I peeled off for a morning Coke stop. After that I eased off the pace a bit as I enjoyed the winding roads, beautiful scenery and tailwind into lunch. Kevin and I joined forces after lunch and kept up a steading pace of about 26kph, including all the “rolling” hills and picked up Heather at the refresh stop the TDA staff had set up at the 140km mark. Back at camp we were rewarded with a cold shower and a beer, and Kendra took it easy on us with a mellow yoga session. Dinner served up an amazing fried fish, which we followed our usual wine club, enjoying a bottle of South African red under the blanket of stars. Another absolutely wonderful day on the tour!
